We combine our small class sizes and dedicated faculty to foster an immersive atmosphere with performance opportunities typically reserved for much larger programs.

The trumpet studio is composed of outstanding students in one of the strongest schools of music in Texas. In 2020, the School of Music moved into our new Music Education Complex, a 100,000-square foot facility featuring ample practice space, individual ensemble rehearsal facilities, two performance halls, and a state-of-the-art recording studio, capable of recording from most rooms in the building. Students have performed at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, Texas Music Educators Association Convention, College Music Society National Conference, competed at the National Trumpet Competition and marched with several different corps through DCI. In 2024, the School of Music served host to the National Trumpet Competition. In 2021 the studio's Jalisco Trumpet Ensemble placed 3rd in the National Trumpet Competition, having advanced to the semi-finals previously in 2018 and 2019. Its student organization is an affiliate chapter with the International Trumpet Guild and is hosts the annual South Texas Trumpet Workshop.
